DETROIT - China's Chery Automobile Co. plans to enter the United States with its own brand and dealers. But it probably will take three or four years to start selling its own cars here.
Chery will wait until after it starts producing small cars for a brand of Chrysler LLC, says Zhang Lin, general manager of Chery International. Chery CEO Yin Tongyao said in October that the Chery-built car probably will come to the United States in 2010 or 2011.
Zhang spoke at a J.D. Power and Associates conference about the China auto industry on Nov. 15 in suburban Detroit.
