DETROIT Jeep has expanded engine options for its line of Grand Cherokee SUVs by offering an optional 3.0-liter diesel V-6 on its Grand Cherokee Laredo.
A diesel engine is already available on the Grand Cherokee Limited and Overland models.
The Grand Cherokee Laredo Diesel has a base price of $35,685 for 4x2 models and $38,305 for 4x4 models, including shipping.
Jeep also cut $1,000 from the base price of diesel versions of its 2008 Grand Cherokee Limited and Overland models.
By expanding engine availability and reducing existing prices, we hope that more consumers will be encouraged to take advantage of this clean, renewable fuel, Jeep spokesman John Plecha said in a statement. Chrysler believes that clean diesel technology can and should be a part of the national energy solution, and we will continue to build upon our diesel leadership.
All of Jeeps 2008 Grand Cherokee Diesel SUVs can be fueled by bio-diesel, as they are when they leave Chryslers Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit.
