Folio magazine has given Automotive News Staff Reporter Harry Stoffer an Eddie award for his Feb. 5 package of articles, "The heat is on: How global warming is closing in on the U.S. auto industry."
Stoffer received third place in the transportation category.
Over five months, Stoffer and other staffers interviewed academics, environmental activists, politicians and top automotive executives such as General Motors' Rick Wagoner, Nissan's Carlos Ghosn, Toyota's Katsuaki Watanabe, Honda's Takeo Fukui and Fiat's Sergio Marchionne.
Stoffer predicted that, in the absence of a plausible industry approach to global warming, Congress would craft its own strategy to deal with the threat. Stoffer offered Automotive News readers a comprehensive, plain-English tutorial on a subject that is transforming the industry.
Stoffer, 59, has been Automotive News' Washington correspondent since 1997.
