TOKYO - Rising sales and a better model mix have boosted the profit outlook at Mitsubishi Motors Corp., but lackluster U.S. operations still hamper a comeback. Mitsubishi raised its operating income forecast 37 percent to ¥70 billion ($610.1 million) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008. That would be a 74 percent improvement over the last fiscal year's operating profit of $349.6 million.
Net income for the second quarter ended Sept. 30 was $22.6 million. Mitsubishi lost $8.7 million in the same quarter last year.
