DETROIT -- It turns out that Jim Farley will take on two jobs at Ford Motor Co.
Ford announced today that Farley, 45, will assume the duties of Cisco Codina, who retired in September as group vice president of North American marketing, sales & service.
That is on top of Farleys role as Fords group vice president of marketing and communications, a new position reporting directly to CEO Alan Mulally. Ford hired the former Toyota executive for that post in early October.
That means Farley will be Fords chief global marketing officer and will have direct oversight of U.S. sales, marketing and dealer relations for the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands. Farley will report to Mark Fields, Ford Motors president of the Americas, on the North American duties.
Now with Jims expanded role, he and Mark Fields will work together to help everybody understand that Ford cars and trucks are absolutely worthy of consideration once again, Mulally said in a prepared statement.
Farley is expected to begin full time at Ford mid-month.
