DETROIT -- Snatching yet another executive from a Japanese automaker, Chrysler LLC has appointed Doug Betts the companys chief customer officer.
Betts was most recently senior vice president of total customer satisfaction for Nissan North America Inc. Betts, 44, will be a liaison between Chrysler customers and executives to address quality issues. It is a new position at Chrysler, reporting to Vice Chairman Jim Press. Now the customer will define quality at Chrysler, Press said in a statement. He described Betts position as an advocate for the customer.
Before his most recent post, Betts was a Nissan vice president of manufacturing quality. Before that he headed quality for Toyota Motor Corp.'s Tundra pickup plant in Princeton, Ind. Betts also has held quality positions at General Motors and Michelin Tire Corp.
