DETROIT An employee at Ford Motor Co.s Wayne Stamping and Assembly plant in suburban Detroit died today after a morning accident at the factory.
As a result, Mondays day shift has been canceled at the plant while company officials cooperate with authorities to investigate the accident, Ford spokeswoman Anne Marie Gattari said. The plant makes the Ford Focus.
The evening shift was expected to begin on time at 5:30 p.m. EDT.
The victim was Robert Conley, 48, of Manchester, Mich. A Ford employee for 17 years , Conley was a maintenance supervisor at the plant's final assembly area.
"He was highly regarded by his peers, and he will be missed," Gattari said.
