The National Automobile Dealers Association has elected Annette Sykora as its chairman and John McEleney as vice chairman for 2008.
The two dealers will assume office at the NADA Convention and Exposition, Feb. 9-12, in San Francisco.
Sykora, 44, is dealer principal of Smith South Plains Ford-Lincoln-Mercury-Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep in Levelland, Texas, and Smith Ford-Mercury in Slaton, Texas. She has been a new-car dealer since 1989.
Sykora is the current vice chairman of NADA as well as a member of the group's Industry Relations Committee, a director on the Insurance Trust Board and a trustee on the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation Board. Sykora has served on the NADA board of directors since 1999. She will succeed Dale Willey as NADA chairman.
McEleney, 56, is president of Clinton, Iowa-based McEleney Motors Inc. and Southgate Motors Ltd. He has been a new-car dealer since 1976. McEleney is the current chairman of the NADA Industry Relations Committee and has been NADA Region 3 vice chairman as well as a member of the group's Government Relations, Industry Relations and Public Affairs committees.
