To promote its GM Certified used-vehicle brand, General Motors is sponsoring an online pro football sweepstakes.
The promotion appears on the Web site of Sports Illustrated magazine, www.si.com. It invites contestants to compete with football writer Peter King in picking winners of National Football League games.
The "Peter King Challenge" enables GM Certified to expand its "No Worries" advertising campaign, says Paul Pejza, the brand's manager. The magazine and its Web site are good ways to reach used-vehicle shoppers, he says.
In addition to weekly prizes, contestants can win a trip to Las Vegas for 10 people Feb. 3-5. The Super Bowl will be played in Miami on Feb. 4.
Contestants must register to enter the sweepstakes. Each contestant must provide his or her name, address, e-mail address and date of birth. Contestants can opt to get information about GM Certified vehicles.
The Web page that promotes the contest also describes GM Certified. It offers details about the program's inspection and warranty programs, vehicle selection and ways to contact the 3,600 U.S. dealerships that sell the brand.
The page also links to the GM Certified Web site, www.gmcertified.com.
GM Certified sells used Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Pontiac and Oldsmobile vehicles. Cadillac, Hummer and Saab have separate certified programs.
