Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. has expanded the influence of Toyota Division chief Jim Farley by making him a group vice president and corporate officer.
The change was made public today, in advance of the automaker's scheduled national dealer meeting next week. Farley is in charge of the division's market planning, advertising, incentives and Internet activities.
Farley, 44, will continue to report to Jim Lentz, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A.'s executive vice president. Farley had been vice president of marketing for the Toyota Division.
Farley joined Toyota in 1990 and was part of the product planning team for the original Lexus LS 400 sedan. He and Lentz were key executives who launched the Scion youth brand. Farley was promoted to his Toyota Division post in April 2005.
