ForTwo: DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche has resurrected plans to sell Smart's two-passenger minicars in the United States. The car will be re-engineered, restyled and be a little longer when it goes on sale here in 2008.
The two-door hard- and soft-top models will be sold by independent distributor Roger Penske, owner of UnitedAuto Group Inc. Penske plans to appoint 30 to 50 dealers.
The Smart hardtop is expected to cost about $15,000. The next-generation version may debut at next year's Geneva motor show.
