After a strong May, U.S. wholesale deliveries of recreational and conversion vehicles continued to post increases, as shipments rose 8.0 percent in June.
A total of 39,200 RV and conversion vehicles were delivered in June, up from 36,300 in June 2005. For the first six months of this year, deliveries were at 240,700, an 11.5 percent increase from the first half of 2005.
Towable RVs, the biggest sector of the market, continue to make gains. June deliveries rose 15.8 percent to 32,200 units.
In the first half of the year, 195,300 towable RVs were delivered, an increase of 19.7 percent from the first half of 2005.
Travel trailers had the best showing in the towable RV segment with a 23.3 percent increase from June 2005 to 19,600 units. For the first half of the year, travel trailer deliveries rose 28.9 percent to 120,400 compared with the same period last year.
After posting increases for the first time this year in May, conversion vehicle deliveries fell in June. Van, pickup and SUV conversions combined for a 33.3 percent decrease to 1,800 units compared with June 2005.
