DETROIT -- Intermet Corp. today named William Whalen, a former finance executive at Intier Automotive Interiors, as its CFO.
Whalen replaces Bob Belts, 57, who has been CFO since August 2002. Belts will leave the company when the transition is complete, Intermet said.
Whalen, 46, most recently was responsible for finances at the North American and Asian unit of Intier Automotive Interiors, a wholly owned operation of Magna International Inc. Before that, he held financial positions at United Technologies Corp. and Ernst & Young.
Intermet, of Troy, Mich., makes cast metal products for vehicles. It ranks No. 67 on the Automotive News list of top 150 original-equipment suppliers to North America, with sales of $699 million in 2005.
