Sometimes a consumer hot line is just a little too hot.
That was Honda's problem - and it resulted in a gigantic recall campaign involving 1.2 million 2006-07 Honda and Acura vehicles.
But it doesn't involve a big safety problem or a massive repair effort. Just a big postcard mailing to correct a faulty phone number.
It seems Honda's owner's manuals misstated the number of the government's safety hot line - directing customers instead to a chat line called Intimate Encounters, whose rates range from 99 cents to $2.99 a minute, depending on what, ah, safety problem the caller is attempting to address.
