DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling 1.2 million trucks because a faulty speed control deactivation switch can cause fires. The recall covers 1996-2002 F-series pickups, Explorer and Excursion SUVs and Econoline vans.
Last year, Ford recalled 5 million trucks for the same problem. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Ford have received 1,472 complaints about the problem. There were 65 fires reported and no injuries.
