After a month of escalating gasoline prices, drivers caught a break over the past week as the average price of fuel remained stable.
The average price for regular unleaded today was the same as a week ago, at $3.01 a gallon, according to AAA, of Hawthorne, Fla.
Midgrade and premium gasoline prices also were unchanged. Midgrade was selling for an average of $3.19 a gallon today. Premium gasoline was selling for an average of $3.31.
Diesel fuel prices are up slightly from a week ago. A gallon was selling for an average of $3.06 today.
AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report gathers data from as many as 85,000 filling stations nationwide and posts its findings on www.fuelgaugereport.com.
The stability of pump prices may be short-lived, however, because crude oil rates are rising, trading at $75.05 a barrel this morning.
Drivers in Coronado, Calif., and Huber Heights, Ohio, continue to see the highs and lows of gasoline prices nationwide Friday. Spotters on GasPriceWatch.com saw gasoline selling for $3.69 a gallon at one station in Coronado - the highest price found in the nation. In Huber Heights, one station was selling gasoline for $2.64 a gallon - the lowest price in the nation.
