DETROIT -- Collins & Aikman Corp. has appointed James Wynalek to president of its plastic operations, effective immediately.
Wynalek, 56, joined the North American supplier this year. He was executive vice president and chief technology officer. Wynalek replaces Dennis Profitt, 54, who left the company for undisclosed reasons, a company spokesperson said.
Mary Ann Wright, 44, executive vice president of commercial and program management, will take on Wynalek's previous responsibilities.
Before coming to Collins & Aikman, Wynalek was vice president of engineering and quality for Dell Americas Operations.
In his new position, Wynalek will be responsible for the company's plastic manufacturing, purchasing, process engineering and quality issues.
Collins & Aikman, of Troy, Mich., has about 14,000 employees in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The supplier ranks No. 54 on the Automotive News list of the top 100 global suppliers with worldwide original-equipment automotive parts sales of $2.80 billion in 2005. The company has been in Chapter 11 reorganization since May 2005.
