DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche is a funny guy.
The "Dr. Z" commercials that the Chrysler group is airing on TV and radio show that he's willing to do a little shtick to help sell cars and trucks.
This is his first run at prime time, but the sense of humor isn't new. When Zetsche was in Auburn Hills, Mich., he deadpanned his way through a couple of videos that were big hits at dealer meetings.
Not everybody appreciates the Dr. Z character. Some think the message will be lost on Joe and Sally Six-pack, who won't get the humor nor understand the gravitas of a global CEO's making light of himself.
Maybe. Maybe not.
