To the Editor:
I loved your June 12 SalesTales column, "What price gasoline? Who cares?" And I thought you would enjoy hearing about something I read in Skinned Knuckles magazine, a journal of car restoration, in November.
"No doubt about it," the magazine said. "Gasoline is expensive. And it's getting worse.
"But take a look at how it compares to the per-gallon prices of some other common liquids."
The magazine used 87-octane Shell regular gasoline at $2.97 a gallon as the comparison price and then listed per-gallon prices of other products used by many households. It included: Vick's NyQuil, $132.05 a gallon; Lipton Iced Tea , $8.43; Pepto-Bismol, $111.84; Gatorade, $10.17; and Scope, $54.70. Also, power-steering fluid, $31.89; Aqua Fina water, $11.46; and Budweiser, $12.69.
