FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. -- Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG plans to expand two of its divisions here to accommodate the company's North American growth.
The Pierburg operations will take over the 140,000-square-foot building that the divisions share, mainly for administration and manufacturing. The Pierburg unit makes emission control parts, oil, coolant and secondary air pumps, along with throttle bodies. It employs 120 people.
The KS Bearings division will move to a nearby 124,000-square-foot building, where it will spend $5 million on expansion over the next three years and employ 60 people, a company spokesman said. The plant will be fully functioning by early 2007.
Kolbenschmidt Pierburg, of Dusseldorf, Germany, produces pistons, emission control products, oil and water pumps, engine blocks, manifolds and bearings.
