To the Editor:
The new Honda Civic is a hit; however, for product planners this shouldn't be any surprise or any significant design breakthrough. This extreme cab-forward and compact design (fueled by high gas prices) has been around for decades. Just browse award-winning products from Citroen, Peugeot and Renault.
Yes, Honda gets the global prize. However, don't pass over France (and Italy) for continued automotive design leadership for the masses of young automotive buyers who care more about the environment, MP3 players and text messages than V-8s or redesigned Mustangs.
