Everybody's doing market research: what boomers drive, what Gen Y drives, what the 18-to-45 set drives. Forbesautos.com wanted to know what the mob drives.
In its list of Top 10 vehicles driven on HBO's "The Sopranos," Forbes cast serious doubt on the old saw that crime doesn't pay.
You'd expect crime boss Tony Soprano to drive something macho to show off his power. Sure enough, he pilots a Cadillac Escalade ESV.
Tony's wife, Carmela, drives a Porsche Cayenne S. Other vehicles favored by the criminal elite include the Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa, Hummer H2, Chevrolet Corvette and Cadillac DeVille.
To come up with its Top 10, Forbes considered two factors: price and the owner's closeness to kingpin Tony. So, for example, a Ford Explorer driven by a fairly important character didn't make the cut because of its low glitz factor, and a Rolls-Royce was nixed because it was driven by a relative nobody. And if Tony disliked you enough to have you whacked, your ride lost points big time.
Maybe there's ad potential in this. Imagine Tony Soprano in a Cadillac ad: "Buy this car - or your family sleeps with the fishes." Anyway, here's the list.
