SMYRNA, Tenn. -- Nissan North America Inc. will cut 18,000 vehicles from production schedules to cut inventories and prepare for 2007 models.
Six production days will be cut from April through July at two assembly plants, in Smyrna, Tenn., and Canton, Miss., and at Nissan's engine plant in Decherd, Tenn.
The Smyrna plant assembles the Nissan Altima and Maxima sedans, Frontier pickup and Xterra and Pathfinder SUVs. Canton assembles the Nissan Altima, Armada SUV, Quest minivan, Titan pickup and Infiniti QX56 SUV.
In the next 12 months, Nissan plans to launch seven new or redesigned models in the United States: the Nissan Versa hatchback and sedan, Sentra sedan, Quest, Altima and Altima hybrid and Infiniti G35 sedan.
