ATLANTA -- Cox Enterprises Inc. and Landmark Communications Inc. say they are dividing the assets of their 50-50 partnership in Trader Publishing Co. The company operates the AutoTrader.com vehicle classified Web site.
Cox will control Trader Publishing's 341 auto-related publications, including Auto Trader, Auto Mart and Truck Trader. It also will control Trader Publishing's Web sites. Cox is the parent company of the Manheim auction company in Atlanta.
Landmark is transferring its 26 percent interest in AutoTrader.com to Cox. That boosts Cox's ownership stake in the Web site to 87.9 percent. The site will become part of a new business unit called Cox Auto Trader. Under the deal, Landmark will control Trader Publishing's nonautomotive publications and Web sites.
