Has DaimlerChrysler taken the "for sale" sign off the Smart brand?
German business publication Handelsblatt says the automaker has told investment bank Goldman Sachs to stop screening potential buyers.
DaimlerChrysler won't comment. But CFO Bodo Uebber predicted last week that Smart would break even next year. The brand hasn't posted a profit since it was launched in 1998.
And, yes, DaimlerChrysler still is thinking about bringing the Smart brand to the United States - as it has been for several years.
