As the price of crude oil continues to yo-yo daily, diesel and gasoline prices have hit a plateau, for now.
The average price of regular unleaded gasoline has been on the rise since the beginning of March. On Friday it stood at $2.51 a gallon, the same as three days earlier. But one month ago, that average price was $2.24 a gallon. One year ago the average price of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.12 a gallon, according to AAA, of Hawthorne, Fla.
Diesel fuel has held steady at an average of $2.66 a gallon since Tuesday, March 21. One month ago the average price was $2.55 a gallon, and one year ago diesel was selling on average for $2.29 a gallon.
AAA surveys more than 85,000 self-serve stations across the country and posts its findings on www.fuelgaugereport.com.
The price of crude oil continues to seesaw. It was selling at $63.55 a gallon Friday, up almost $3 a barrel from three days earlier.
The highest price spotted for regular unleaded was $3.11 a gallon in Kahului, Hawaii, according to GasPriceWatch.com. The lowest price found was in Evanston, Wyo., at $2.03 a gallon.
The Web site uses volunteer spotters and has recorded more than 315,000 prices this week.
