WASHINGTON - Kelly Martin will serve as acting executive director of the American International Automobile Dealers Association while the import-brand dealers group recruits a new president.
Martin, 39, AIADA's director of member services, has overseen the association's staff since Marianne McInerney abruptly quit as president March 6. AIADA made his appointment as acting executive director official Friday, March 17.
In a prepared statement, Martin said he would seek to build on AIADA's successes in the past several years. Whether the association succeeded under McInerney has been the subject of considerable debate, within and outside AIADA.
AIADA Chairman Don Hicks says McInerney did what association leaders wanted. He says he wants a successor like her.
