The cost of regular unleaded gasoline continued to rise since last late week, but only a smidgen.
The average price of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.36 a gallon on Tuesday, up one penny from four days earlier. One month ago the average price for regular unleaded was $2.30 a gallon. One year ago it was selling at $2.03 a gallon, according to AAA, of Hawthorne, Fla.
Diesel fuel dipped a penny from late last week. It was selling for $2.62 a gallon on Tuesday. One month ago the average price for diesel was $2.58 a gallon. One year ago it was $2.23 a gallon.
AAA surveys 85,000 self-serve stations across the country and posts its findings on www.fuelgaugereport.com.
As concerns continue to loom about the future of the U.S. oil supply, crude oil started an upward climb. Crude oil was selling Tuesday for $62.08 a barrel, almost a $2 increase since four days earlier.
Hawaii residents paid the most at the pumps on Tuesday. The highest price spotted for regular unleaded gasoline was in Wailuku, Hawaii, at $2.97 a gallon, according to GasPriceWatch.com. The lowest price found was $1.98 a gallon in Paducah, Ky.
The Web site uses volunteer spotters and has recorded more than 310,000 prices this week.
