- Ford Motor Co. built its last vehicle at its St. Louis assembly plant on Wednesday, March 8. The plant, which opened in 1948, built the Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer. Ford's Louisville, Ky., assembly plant also makes the Explorer and Mountaineer.
- North America car and truck production fell 2.7 percent in February compared with February 2005. U.S. car and truck production fell 6.8 percent; Canada car and truck production fell 2.8 percent; and Mexico car and truck production rose 33.1 percent.
- The Chrysler group's Conner Avenue plant (Detroit) resumes production today, March 13. It has been down for seven weeks because of slow sales of the Dodge Viper.
