To the Editor:
I never caught the reasoning behind the classification of the Chrysler PT Cruiser as a truck. Based on the Neon in shape if not styling, it is the station wagon model of the Neon, or at least its platform.
In addition, it is clear that as crossovers add more design features to parallel cars, they are also getting closer to that dividing line with vans that is already almost invisible -- something about an extended hood compared to a flush front or whatever.
Let's be honest; it's a marketing ploy. Station wagons are out of vogue. Now here's a real zinger. Does anyone think as many crossovers would be sold if they were called station wagons or even vans? Anyone want to put next week's paycheck on that one?
Editor's note: Automotive News classifies the PT Cruiser as a car.
