Does it have to excel at farming, too? Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. sits on 8,500 acres of fertile Ohio soil. Last year the land yielded 5,000 tons of organic soybeans for export to Japan, Honda reports. That made the automaker one of the largest U.S. exporters of organic soybeans. So why is Honda growing soybeans? Well -- because it can. We smell another award.
WARMING UP -- Now that General Motors and Ford Motor Co. have won health care concessions from the UAW, it appears the Chrysler group is next. Chrysler has begun sharing financial data requested by the UAW -- the first step in preparing for talks aimed at curbing health care costs, says Chrysler group CEO Tom LaSorda.
