J.D. Power and Associates' executives gave dealers their assessment of every major franchise in America - and how each brand's products rate.
So dealers asked the four presenters what they drive. The foursome didn't volunteer the information happily.
Tom Libby, senior director of the Power Information Network, was the only one who was forthcoming. He said he owns a Ford Explorer but really wants a Jaguar XK.
Chance Parker, executive director for product research and analysis, ignored the question.
Jeff Schuster, executive director of global forecasting and product analysis, said he drives a 1974 Ford Pinto - which drew a hearty laugh from the audience. He really owns an Infiniti G35 but didn't want to 'fess up because he got a previous laugh calling the Infiniti brand "luxury light."
Newcomer Steve Saxty, executive director of marketing solutions for the U.S. automotive division, said he doesn't own a car because he lives and works in New York City. We knew better and asked him what happened to the Porsche. "Well," Saxty sheepishly admitted, "I'm between 911s."
