DETROIT -- Rob Mitchell, head of BMW of North America's corporate communications, will head media relations for the company's motorcycles, motor sports and heritage collection.
Mitchell, 59, begins his new job on March 1.
His duties as head of corporate and business communications are being handed to Gabriella Molteni, who has been manager of corporate communications for BMW in the West region. Part of Molteni's job has been to handle placement of BMW products in movies and TV shows.
The change was made by Tom Purves, CEO of BMW North America LLC.
Mitchell said his new job is to create more awareness for BMW's motorcycles and motor sports activities. It also gives him a key role in the automaker's heritage collection of historic racing and production cars, known as the BMW Mobile Tradition. The collection is in a museum in Munich, Germany.
