To the Editor:
I am responding to the Jan. 23 letter from Ray Bohacz, "Consumers care about content." He lamented the lack of U.S. content in the Ford Fusion.
Where has he been? Look at TV, stereo systems and many other products we purchase. Most do not have U.S. content, and many are manufactured overseas. The world has changed, and to think otherwise is not to be grounded in reality.
For years American automakers have known that to stay competitive, they must buy from the least expensive producer. As a nation we are quickly moving from being a producer/manufacturer society to being a service-oriented society. We must all learn to adjust to change, because most of the time change is good.
