Deliveries of recreational vehicles surged 21.0 percent in November, bolstered by a strong showing by towable units.
In November, 32,800 total recreational vehicles were delivered, up from November 2004's tally of 27,100. Through 11 months, deliveries rose 1.4 percent to 388,100 units compared with the 2004 period.
Towable RVs, the biggest selling segment of the market, posted a 33.3 percent increase to 26,800 units. They are up 7.2 percent year-over-year to 298,200.
Deliveries of motor homes fell sharply to 3,700 units, a 9.8 percent decline.
They slipped 13.4 percent in the first 11 months in 2005 to 57,100.
Conversion vehicles fared even worse, posting a 20.7 percent downturn in November with 2,300 deliveries.
They fell 15.0 percent last year through the first 11 months to 32,800.
The totals do not include 7,900 trailers delivered in November for use by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
