Regular unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel prices edged higher over the past three days.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.36 a gallon, up 2 cents from Tuesday, Jan. 31. One month ago a gallon of regular unleaded was selling for $2.23. One year ago the average price was $1.91 a gallon, according to AAA, of Hawthorne, Fla.
Diesel fuel was selling for an average of $2.59 a gallon on Friday, up a penny from three days earlier. One month ago the average price for diesel fuel was $2.54 a gallon. One year ago it was averaging $2.07 a gallon.
AAA surveys more than 85,000 self-serve stations and reports its findings at www.fuelgaugereport.com.
A barrel of crude oil was selling for about $64.60 on Friday, down slightly from the day before.
The highest price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline was $3.18 in Paia, Hawaii, according to GasPriceWatch.com. Paducah, Ky., has the lowest observed price at $1.89 a gallon.
The Web site uses volunteer spotters and has recorded more than 273,000 prices this week.
