The Big 3 are likely to report lower year-over-year January U.S. sales this week -- perhaps as much as 6.5 percent, analysts predict.
Toyota and Honda will report increases, analysts predict, and January industry volume will be near year-ago levels.
Industry sales will decline 2 percent on a seasonally adjusted annual basis, Merrill Lynch says. Edmunds.com, however, expects a 2 percent increase from January 2005, predicting industry volume at 1.07 million units.
