Merrill Lynch automotive analyst John Casesa is leaving the company at the end of January. Casesa, 43, said he would soon be involved in a new venture in the car business but declined to be more specific.
"After doing the same thing for 17 years, I needed a new challenge," he said. "My intention is to stay in the auto business. I hope to work with some people I've known for a long time and to find a way to take advantage of some emerging trends in the business."
Casesa has been with Merrill Lynch for five years. He will be replaced by fellow analyst John Murphy.
