He said his retirement had nothing to do with an accounting scandal unfolding at the largest U.S. supplier. But at age 62, Battenberg did depart early from the company he helped spin off from GM. He retired July 1, making way for new CEO Steve Miller, who shepherded Delphi into Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring in October.
