The Sierra Club accused Ford Motor Co. of hypocrisy last week after the company issued a report on its efforts to cut emissions that cause global warming.
Ford said it will strive to produce vehicles that use less fuel. It said it also will work with oil companies, policy makers and others to fight global warming.
The company said that it "recognizes the importance of precautionary, prudent and early actions to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere."
But in a press release, the Sierra Club said Ford in the report fails to set any targets to cut the release to global-warming emissions.
Dan Becker, director of the Sierra Club's global warming program, says, "Ford is a big part of the global warming problem, but they have failed to adopt more than token solutions."
