DETROIT -- Delphi Corp. is asking for more time to file a plan of reorganization.
The giant auto supplier on Friday filed a motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York for an additional six months to Oct. 4, 2006, to file a reorganization plan and solicit acceptance from creditors.
Delphi said the complexity of the reorganization and its business operations prompted the extension request. Delphi put its U.S. operations under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Oct. 8.
Delphi, of Troy, Mich., ranks No. 2 on the Automotive News list of the top 100 global suppliers with estimated worldwide original-equipment parts sales of $24.10 billion in 2004.
