As he was preparing for a board meeting this week that will examine Ford Motor Co.'s big plan for cuts and success, Bill Ford dished out some tough love to his employees.
Work hard, get with the program -- or else.
In an audio message e-mailed to employees last week, the CEO said: "Anyone who thinks or attempts to convince you that it's business as usual at Ford is wrong and would best serve us all by pursuing their interests elsewhere."
Ford also said the company is setting up an electronic system for workers to send ideas directly to top management.
The "Mark and Anne" plan to rescue North American operations went to the board last week. The restructuring plan was put together by Mark Fields, newly appointed president of the Americas, and Anne Stevens, COO of the Americas. According to one who has read the plan, its 133 pages cover almost every aspect of the company.
Ford Motor will announce the final plan next month.
