For a company whose US advertising slogan is "Drivers wanted," Volkswagen seems an unlikely participant in a race of driverless vehicles across 211km of rough Nevada terrain last month. Better yet, a diesel VW Touareg, nicknamed "Stanley," actually won the contest held by the US Department of Defense. Stanley was equipped to pilot itself across the Mohave Desert by a Stanford University team and VW engineers.
And yes, VW found a way to advertise its engineering feat. The new tagline: "Drivers wanted. But sometimes not required."
