Hyundai expects to exceed its target of 50,000 new registrations this year in Germany and is aiming for a possible
80 percent increase by the end of the decade.
Through the end of September, about 40,000 new registrations were recorded, Hyundai Germany's managing director, Karl-Heinz Engels, said. Last year, Hyundai's new registrations were 45,667 units for the full year.
Hyundai expects the brand to grow as more buyers become aware of the automaker's product line.
"The expectation is great that our commitment as a sponsor for the World Cup soccer tournament will promote awareness of the product," Engels said. Many potential buyers are unaware "that we have a broad array of models and can meet many needs," he said.
He said the company's target is 80,000 to 90,000 registrations for 2010.
