AMSTERDAM -- Mitsubishi Motors Corp.'s Dutch car assembly plant NedCar has cut its 2006 production target by 10,000 vehicles to 120,000 units, a NedCar spokesman said on Tuesday.
NedCar makes the Mitsubishi Colt subcompact and the four-door ForFour model for DaimlerChrysler's Smart brand. NedCar would not give separate production targets for each model.
Smart confirmed the number of 120,000 units but would not give a breakdown for a ForFour production target.
The head of Mitsubishi Motors Corp. told Reuters in an interview at the Frankfurt car show in September that NedCar was pushing hard to produce 130,000 cars this year, which would allow it to break even, and planned to build more next year.
