DETROIT -- Steve Hamp, who has been running The Henry Ford museum complex, on Friday was named Ford Motor Co.'s chief of staff.
Hamp, 57, will report to CEO Bill Ford. He replaces Jim Vella, 49. Vella will become a Ford visiting professor, the company said. In that position, Vella will be a guest instructor at universities. A spokesman said Vella's schedule has not been determined.
Hamp is married to Sheila Ford Hamp, Bill Ford's sister. He has worked at The Henry Ford, in Dearborn, Mich., for 27 years and has been president of the institution.
The change is the latest in a series of promotions and resignations at Ford as the automaker grapples with falling sales.
