The marketing folks at Lincoln last week offered a first look at the finished version of the redesigned 2007 Aviator, which is changing from a truck-based SUV to a car-based station wagon. It will debut at the Detroit auto show in January.
Some parts of the new Aviator will be familiar. For example, the platform traces its roots to the Mazda6 sedan. And some parts will be new, such as the 3.5-liter V-6 engine.
But we couldn't shake the nagging feeling that we'd seen this car before. As Lincoln tries to rebuild its standing in the luxury game it has been studying the competition -- especially that other brand that starts with L. Take a look for yourself.
