DETROIT -- Another design competition has been added to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The Eyes on Design awards will recognize concept and production vehicles that debut at the show. The event will be held Jan. 10 at Cobo Center, during the press preview for the 2006 show.
The competition will be headed by former Chrysler design chief Tom Gale and have a jury with automakers, academics and at-large representatives. Harley-Davidson's Willie Davidson, ItalDesign's Giorgetto Giugiaro and Michael Graves of Michael Graves and Associates will be presiding judges.
Other design events during the auto show include the AutoWeek Design Forum and the Michelin Design challenge. AutoWeek is a sister publication of Automotive News.
