HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Siemens VDO Automotive of Germany intends to team up with French joint-venture partner Faurecia SA to deliver integrated cockpit modules to North America.
John Sanderson, CEO of Siemens VDO Automotive Corp. in Auburn Hills, Mich., says he expects strong opportunities for growth in this segment because of rising interest among North American carmakers.
Speaking at a press event here, Sanderson said the companies already are leaders in outsourced cockpit modules in Europe through their 50-50 joint venture with SAS Automotive Systems, of Karlsruhe, Germany.
The venture has no presence in North America. Roughly one-quarter of all cockpit modules are outsourced.
Faurecia is the leading European supplier of interiors and interior module assembly, while Siemens is strong on instrumentation, electronics and controls.
