I really enjoyed Lindsay Chappell's column about the chosen path for Saturn by the powers that be at General Motors ("GM just didn't get the magic of Spring Hill," July 25).
I am a former Saturn sales consultant in Dayton, Ohio, and a four-time Saturn owner. I purchased the SL series in 1998 and 2000. I now own a 2003 and a 2004 Saturn Vue. My wife and I have nothing but good to say about our Saturns. We love the polymer panels and the low cost of ownership.
Chappell hit the nail on the head about the L series being a flop. The cloth interior was cheap and awful on the eyes.
The pickup never came. The Vue was long overdue. Now the Relay is steel. No polymer! That was a major selling point.
I now sell Lexus automobiles, but I still think about what Saturn could have become.
